Unless you happened to get stuck on vacation by accident recently, it looks like we won’t be visiting or revisiting travel destinations anytime soon. While we patiently wait for the situation to get better, Disaya and its sister brand Disaya Vacationist have come up with new collections that are meant to transport wearers to some of the designer’s most memorable travel experiences. Check out “Bo Sang” and “Out of Safari” below.
Designer Disaya Sorakraikitikul drew from memorable personal vacations in the north of Thailand to create the latest collection for Disaya’s sub-brand, Disaya Vacationist. Inspired by the local lifestyle of Lanna, the new Bo Sang Collection highlights details like Chinese buttons and a sequence of ribbons lined up on a traditional “Mo Hom” shirt, a signature of the north. The sleeveless Chinese Collar Dress is infused with butterfly and flower patterns using similar drawing techniques to that featured on the famous “Bo Sang” umbrellas.
Another major highlight in the Bo Sang Collection is the elegant pattern of the local fabric known as Tai Lue and Teen Jok. The famous traditional Hmong textile similar to cross stitching is added in a contemporary manner to the garments, creating silhouettes in cute pastel tones such as light pink, mint green and yellow. Indeed, every little detail within the collection fulfills the meaning of a vacation while also reflecting the uniqueness of Disaya’s day-to-day playful femininity. For instance, the colorful batik maxi dress is designed with flexible volume and the smocked sleeveless top goes perfectly with the batik beach pants.
Celebrating the awe of wild animals and other wonders of nature, main brand Disaya’s Out of Safari Collection presents a new dimension of animal and flora prints evoking elegance, sweetness and even seduction. The collection emphasizes handcrafted fabrics as well as comfy and ease of wear. Blue, green, whites and other mellow tones dominate throughout the collection with pastel yellow and pink adding splashes of fun here and there.
One of the highlights includes an embroidery of colorful flowers on a hiking suit along with unique details of the pocket, knots and ropes which creates the perfect blend of fun. Other pieces in the African safari-themed collection include short-sleeved shirts with matching shorts, slim fit pants, long sleeved oversized shirts with floral embroidery detailing, crop tops and much more.
