Mandarin Oriental Hotels Roll Out Vegan Menus Across Asia

Recognizing the shift in the world towards greater consciousness, in the last few years, the Mandarin Oriental has been ramping up its capabilities to serve and accommodate plant-based guests. Living up to its world-class reputation, the luxury hotel chain has not undertaken the assignment lightly but rather has pushed its chefs to come up with vegan masterpieces that’ll have omnivores lining up to order. From impossible burgers to Michelin-starred vegan menus, here are some of the incredible plant-based offerings of M.O. hotels across Asia.

1/5 Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok

Launched two years ago, the vegan and gluten-free afternoon tea set, exclusive to The Authors’ Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, has planted Bangkok on the map for elevated vegan cuisine. The set features a collection of impeccable savories and pastries, including vegan egg sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, and meringue, just to name a few things we were very impressed with.

Apart from afternoon tea, the Mandarin Oriental has also made sure to add substantial vegan offerings at their other restaurants, including Lord Jim’s and The Verandah.

2/5 Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

Helmed by culinary director Richard Ekkebus, two-Michelin-starred contemporary French restaurant Amber has been making its menu less meat-centric over the last couple of years, citing environmental responsibility. At the moment, Amber maintains a 35:65 ratio between animal protein and plant-based ingredients, challenging the meat-superior perspective within the foodie community. If you’re headed to Hong Kong any time soon, Amber’s Violin Zucchini and White Asparagus are two highly rated vegan dishes that honor the foundations of French cooking.

3/5 Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

Cafe Causette at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong serves a selection of international cuisine with plant-based options in every single category, including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and more. One of the favorites at this all-day family restaurant is the Impossible Burger, beloved by vegans and health-conscious omnivores alike. The burger features a juicy plant-based patty, house-made sesame bun, tomato, and lettuce and comes with a side of fries or a mixed green salad.

4/5 Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta’s charming Cinnamon restaurant offers a variety of vegan Lebanese dishes created by chef Raymond Rjaily. From the Assorted Mezzeh to Falafels, vegan Lebanese cuisine is so full of flavors, protein, and other nutritional benefits, non-vegans would be hard-pressed to complain about any lack of meat.

For Cantonese-specific vegan cuisine, the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta’s Li Feng restaurant is launching a new plant-based menu in October that will present veganized versions of classic favorites like Kung Fu Soup with Morel mushrooms and sweet and sour Monkey Head mushroom.

5/5 Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo

Guests of the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo can get a taste of luxurious vegan Cantonese cuisine at Sense, open for both lunch and dinner. Enjoy delicious dumplings, soups and other vegetable dishes against a panoramic view of Tokyo.
