The Apple event, which took place early this morning, had a number of reveals for tech lovers. Here’s the gist of what to look forward to.
The new Mac Studio is a beast. One version of the new desktop is armed with the M1 Max chip, which is already almost eight times faster than the 27-inch iMac. However, there is the new M1 Ultra chip, which combines two M1 Max chips together, making the Mac Studio 12 times faster than the 27-inch and enabling it to playback 18 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video. Basically, it’s one of the most powerful tools a creative can have. Apple also revealed the new Studio Display, a monitor they’ve designed to complement the Mac Studio but is also compatible with other versions of Mac. The price of Mac Studio starts at 69,900 baht, while the Studio Display priced at 54,900 baht. No date yet on when the Mac Studio will be available, but the Studio Display can be ordered right now through the Apple website or the Apple Store app.
The latest generation of the iPad Air comes with the M1 chip, the same chip found in the iPad Pro. Combined with the iPadOS 15, the chip makes multitasking more intuitive and performs tasks quicker. Center Stage, the camera that follows a subject and adjusts when multiple subjects come into view, is now also available on the new iPad. There’s still no Face ID though, so you’ll have to make do with the Touch ID on the power button. Prices start at 20,900 baht with options of wi-fi or cellular models and 64GB or 256GB configurations. No date was given as to when preorders or official sales will start in Thailand, so keep your eyes peeled.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that Apple has no astounding news for the iPhone since new models are usually announced towards the end of the year. However, they did unveil the new shades of green for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The new iPhone SE (the most affordable iPhone on the market) was also revealed. The SE now has the A15 Bionic chip like the iPhone 13, as well as Live Text, Photographic Styles, Portrait mode, and 5G capability. The phone’s price starts at 15,900 baht and will be available for pre-order on March 18, before it officially goes on sale on March 25.
In the event, Tim Cook touted the Oscar award nominations garnered by Apple TV+ films like Coda and The Tragedy of Macbeth. The Apple CEO then proceeded to show a sizzle reel of some of their upcoming projects. One that has many people’s interests piqued is spy thriller Argylle, directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Henry Cavill and pop diva Dua Lipa.
