Blasts of sorrow, frustration, and anger from musicians and other celebrities came storming in after the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, which formerly recognised a woman’s constitutional right to abortion. In an effort to urge people to donate, protest, take action, and otherwise continue to support that right, despite the Court’s views, here are just some of the reactions from artists you probably know. Together with many more influential voices, the choir of protest on social media is helping to make sure that the Supreme Court know we’re not happy.
Halsey, who has always been vocal about reproductive health and her own struggles in the matter, incorporated powerful, informative visuals in her ongoing Love and Power tour in West Palm Beach, Florida. The visuals included a red screen with white text displaying statistics about reproductive health and abortion. She continued with a striking performance of the angry anthem Nightmare, along with images of young women and protestors. The singer says, “We have a responsibility to fight this.”
On her set at Glastonbury, Billie spoke on stage saying, “Today is a really, really dark day for women in the US. I’m just going to say that because I can’t bear to think about it any longer.” This was followed by a performance of the song Your Power, a ballad on people who abuse their power, particularly the often older men who have a disproportionate influence on society.

“I am sick to my stomach,” said Hayley on the recent Supreme Court ruling. She also reminded everyone to “fight like hell” to get our constitutional rights back and how important it is to vote.
When people talk about how their vote ‘doesn’t matter’ or ‘we are screwed anyway’.. well. We elected a man 6 years ago that gave 3 seats to the Supreme Court. And today those 3 people used their power to take away women and peoples rights to decide their own future.

I am sick to my stomach. I know so many people are terrified right now. Terrified doesn’t even express the pain. You are not alone. Please know you have people in this world that are going to FIGHT LIKE HELL to get our constitutional rights back.

Harry says the overturning of Roe v. Wade marks a “ truly dark day for America” and to look after each other.
I’m absolutely devastated for the people of America today.
Check on your friends.
Look after each other.
We’re all in this together, and the fight is just beginning.
A truly dark day for America.

The young singer called out the names of the five Justices of the Supreme Court during her set at Glastonbury, expressing devastation that they truly “don’t give shit about freedom.”
Quote-tweeting a statement from Michelle Obama, Taylor said she is terrified of how women’s rights have been taken away after decades of fighting for our rights over our own bodies.
I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are – that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that. https://t.co/mwK561oxxl

The singer expressed how heartbroken she is to have to explain to her 11-year-old daughter why we live in a world where women’s rights are falling to pieces.
It is truly unfathomable and disheartening to have to try to explain to my 11 year old daughter why we live in a world where women’s rights are disintegrating in front of our eyes.

Phoebe shared a post on her access to abortion October last year while on tour and stated that everyone deserves that kind of access. She also called out SCOTUS on stage at Glastonbury.
I had an abortion in October of last year while I was on tour. I went to planned parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access.
Here’s a big list of places you can donate to right now. https://t.co/jT0sk6CeNX

The singer-songwriter tweeted “Fuckin bullshit” as she expressed that the decision goes further than abortion.
Fuckin bullshit!!
This decision is about more than abortion, it’s about who has power over you, who has authority to make decisions for you, and who is going to control how your future turns out~ @nwlc @PPFA @ACLU @SisterSong_WOC pic.twitter.com/52Pj6j36Z1
