Koktail Curated: September 15-21

A list of curated events in and around Bangkok to help you plan your week

A whole new week is upon us, so as per usual, here’s a list of events that have been Koktail-approved, from a fashionable pop-up cafe to exhibitions and a painting workshop for art aficionados.

1/5 The Perfectly Imperfect Flower Painting Workshop

The latest workshop hosted by A Keen House will be led by the “highly sensitive artist” Petchpaints. Participants will learn watercolour painting techniques that focus on channelling creativity rather than creating accurate and lifelike images. Get your creative juices flowing and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with some coffee and snacks by your side.

3rd Floor, A Keen House, 4 Sukhumvit Soi 40
September 17-18, 2-5pm

2/5 Into Sretsis Universe

Thai fashion house Sretsis, known for its whimsical silhouettes and unique patterns, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an exhibition titled “Into Sretsis Universe” at ATT19 gallery. The retrospective takes visitors on a journey through the brand’s identity in five different themed displays. Get lost in a mirror labyrinth, admire exclusive design drafts from past collections, and enjoy a variety of short film screenings.

ATT19, 19 Charoen Krung Soi 30
Until September 30, Tuesday-Sunday 11am-6pm

3/5 Twilight of the Icons

“Twilight of the Icons” is an exhibition that embodies that feeling of recalling distant memories that may or may not have happened. The artist, Uttaporn Nimmalaikaew, employed his signature layered gauze technique to create a 3D effect on the portraits, resulting a hologram-like effect. Each piece represents a chapter in Thai history.

SAC Gallery, 160/3 Sukhumvit Soi 39
Until December 3, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm

4/5 Distance and Existence

A group exhibition by Kade Javanalikhikara, Amornthep Mahamart, Jiratchaya Pripwai, Aor Sutthiprapha, and Kitikong Tilokwattanotai, “Distance and Existence” is meant to inspire a dialogue between the art and the viewer’s own interpretation, challenging the idea of whether beauty needs definition or attention. Observe the various mixed media pieces as you ponder the meaning—or lack thereof—of abstract art.

160/3 Sukhumvit Soi 39
Until October 1, Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6pm

5/5 DVF Pop Up Cafe

Visit the Diane von Furstenberg pop-up store at Gaysorn Village, which includes a small cafe serving quality drinks and delectables. The temporary cafe is adorned with the brand’s trademark patterns and bold colours, meaning it’s definitely IG-worthy. Do some shopping, have some coffee, and snap a couple of shots to show off your latest DVF purchase here.
