Titled SUPHAN’S Echoes, prepare to embark on an extraordinary artistic journey as the renowned 1984 + 1 Gallery proudly presents “SUPHAN’S Echoes,” a groundbreaking group show that intertwines history, culture, and contemporary expression.
The gallery, nestled within a captivatingly repurposed rice mill spanning an impressive 4,000 square metres, will host an exhilarating opening celebration on June 3, starting at 3pm.
Curated by the visionary artist Preecha Raksorn, the event unites a dynamic collective of established and emerging Thai artists, each bringing their unique perspectives to the canvas. From captivating paintings to awe-inspiring sculptures, immersive multimedia installations, and even captivating dance performances, the exhibition transcends traditional boundaries to create an unmissable sensory experience.
True to its name, this artistic endeavour serves as a profound dialogue among 16 talented artists, fostering an exchange of ideas that delves into Suphanburi’s enthralling history, culture, community dynamics, belief systems, economic landscapes, and the environment. The artists masterfully intertwine these elements, infusing their creations with the stories and essence of Suphanburi itself.
Suphanburi holds a rich history dating back to the Dvaravati period and has been inhabited for over a thousand years. It was an important border town during the period of the Ayutthaya kingdom and as a result, many significant battles were waged in the province. Amidst the breathtaking landscapes, visitors can explore ancient temples, ruins steeped in history, mysterious caves, and cascading waterfalls, all reflecting Suphanburi’s magnificent past.
