TasteAtlas recently named khao soi the number one soup in the world. Described by the publication as a “signature dish of Northern Thailand”, khao soi is a bowl of rice noodles bathed in creamy broth made from coconut milk, topped with meat and vegetables. As ever, Thai cuisine is proving itself in the global competition, with a total of three Thai soups in the 50 best soups list: khao soi (#1), tom yum (#12), and tom kha gai (#13). Located close to Ari BTS station, Ong Thong’s first restaurant was located in Chiang Mai. The restaurant became so successful that the owners decided to open a Bangkok branch in 2017, and it swiftly gained popularity among Bangkokians.
