MediaMagination handed over proceeds from One Night in Bangkok charity dinner to SOS, supporting food rescue programs to provide 60,000 meals in 2025, reducing food waste, combating hunger, and promoting sustainability.
Following the recent success of One Night in Bangkok, a charity dinner organised by Thailand’s Favourite Restaurants by Koktail on 21st November 2024 at Gaysorn Urban Resort, MediaMagination Co., Ltd. handed over 333,855 THB to Scholars of Sustenance (SOS). This remarkable sum, raised through a special auction, reflects the generosity of participants and the strong dedication of Thailand’s culinary community to tackle food insecurity and waste.
The donation is a lifeline for SOS’s ongoing mission to combat food waste and hunger across Thailand and Southeast Asia. This initiative uplifts underprivileged communities and advances sustainable practices aligned with global environmental goals.
The funds will directly support SOS’s primary mission, the Food Rescue Program, a daily operation that salvages surplus food from restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores. With cold-chain logistics and a dedicated team, SOS ensures this rescued food is redistributed to vulnerable groups, shelters, and low-income neighbourhoods.
In 2025, this donation is projected to provide approximately 60,000 meals, spreading nourishment and relief to those in need throughout the year. From children in urban slums to elderly individuals in remote areas, this outreach represents a tangible change in food equity.
“This generous donation will enable us to fuel our trucks, maintain operations, and expand our reach,”
said Tawee Impoolsup, Country Manager for SOS Thailand.
Additionally, the funds will aid SOS in continuing their Healthy School Meal Programs, ensuring that students in underserved communities receive balanced and nutritious meals, a vital foundation for both health and education. The donation will also fuel SOS’s Rescue Kitchen, where nutritious meals are prepared from surplus ingredients and distributed to families in need. By prioritising food repurposing, SOS exemplifies how organisations can address hunger while reducing environmental harm.
The success of One Night in Bangkok illustrates the power of collaboration. Chefs, diners, and sponsors came together for an evening of extraordinary cuisine, and for a cause that resonates far beyond the dining table.
Founded in 2016, Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) rescues surplus food from hotels, restaurants, and grocery stores, redistributing it to communities in need. Their operations span Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, focusing on reducing food waste and hunger while promoting sustainability. Programs like the Food Rescue Program, Rescue Kitchen, and Healthy School Meal Programs ensure that rescued food is repurposed to nourish and empower those in need.
To all who supported One Night in Bangkok, thank you for turning one night into a year of hope for countless individuals. Together, we are creating a world where no meal goes to waste and no one goes hungry.
