Bangkok’s nightlife scene is legendary, with hotspots including Nana-Yaowarat, Banthat Thong and Charoenkrung drawing crowds for their eclectic mix of bars. Now, imagine bar-hopping in these neighbourhoods without worrying about transportation—or your carbon footprint. The Opium Bar Hopping tuk tuk service makes it possible. Every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm onwards, this free, eco-friendly EV tuk tuk shuttle links standout bars in the area, starting since 13 December.
Organised by Opium Bar, this initiative offers a convenient and sustainable way to experience Bangkok’s bar scene. With designated stops and scheduled pickups, the service ensures you can sip cocktails at each venue without hassle.
Powered by electricity, these tuk tuks let you enjoy a guilt-free night out without adding to air pollution. In partnership with Fever-Tree Tonic, the initiative reflects a movement toward greener urban living, presenting a growing trend toward greener nightlife options in the city. They also align with the demand for environmentally responsible choices in food and beverage industries.
The shuttle service covers carefully chosen bars, each with its unique vibe and story. Here’s a closer look at some of the participating bars and what makes them worth the trip.
As the starting point of the shuttle, Opium Bar sets the tone for the night. This bar, founded by Arnon “KK” Hoontrakul, takes its name from the opium beds discovered in its historic building. KK, known for his creative flair, crafts cocktails inspired by his travels, mixing global influences with local ingredients. Sip on one of their signature drinks and experience a setting that echoes Bangkok’s history while embracing modern mixology.
