Thai Textile Heroes Shine at IconCraft, IconSiam

‘IconCraft Thai Textile Heroes’ at IconSiam highlights the works of the nation’s top designers in Thai materials

For August, the birthday month of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, IconSiam has curated a vibrant space dedicated to the colour, craft, and creativity of Thai textiles, to promote this country’s unique textile heritage while showing that what’s traditional can also be modern.

The event “IconCraft Thai Textile Heroes” features creative, groundbreaking works of the nation’s top-tier artists and creators, including the annual launch of the Thai textile bag collection, S’Craft: Craftsmanship 2022, by Sirivannavari. Designed by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the bags feature refined silk from the princess’s private collection, which includes indigenous textiles from local producers all over Thailand. Each piece is constructed by Sirivannavari Atelier and Academy, with French-style embroidery work, crystals, beads, feathers and the brand’s initial “S” elaborated on the bag. The colours are inspired by The Queen Mother’s outfits, with an emphasis on blue—The Queen Mother’s birthday colour.

The limited edition of 190 bags will be available exclusively at IconCraft Thai Textile Heroes, with proceeds to be donated to The Support Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

The event also features exquisite works by textile master, Weeratham Tragoonngernthai from Chan Soma House, and top brands such as Asava, Issue, Theatre, Wisharawish, Ek Thongprasert, HomeStudioShop, Indigoskin, Kanapot, Termtem Studio, Ti[a By Tipayaphong, and Galerie de Himmapan, as well as Thai textile merchandise and products.

The “IconCraft Thai Textile Heroes” exhibition is on view between 10-31 August 2022 at IconCraft, 4th floor of IconSiam.
