Make sure to prepare a big white wall in your living room. German camera maker Leica has just unveiled the Cine 1, its first ever 4K laser projector designed for 80- or 100-inch displays.
Their latest edition to the Leica portfolio, The Cine 1 has an iconic design that perfectly embodies the essence of Leica’s purist design philosophy. It features a timeless, sleek aluminum body with an automatic dust cover for improved lens protection. The all-around perforated cover ensures crystal-clear sound and optimal, unobstructed ventilation, while the robust build ensures a 25,000 hour maintenance interval.
According to Engadget, the 80-inch version of the Cine 1 can beam images from a distance of around six inches, while the 100-inch model can do so from 12 inches. Described as an ultra-short-throw (UST) projector, the Cine 1 brings to life outstanding imaging performance. Its ultra-bright 4K image reproduction delivers unparalleled optical picture quality, authentic full-depth colors, and laser-sharp resolution. Combined with powerful built-in Dolby Atmos speakers, breathtaking surround sound completes the cinema experience flawlessly.
For those who love their streaming platforms, the projector is also equipped with a VIDAA smart TV launcher. HDMI and USB ports built into the projector allow external devices such as gaming consoles and Blu-ray players to connect to the system. The Cine 1 features advanced triple-RGB laser technology that results in significantly lower energy consumption than most OLED TVs.
And if you needed any more justification to shell out, in a statement on September 1 announcing the release of the 4K laser projector, Leica said that “images projected by the Leica Cine 1 are considerably less fatiguing for the eyes than conventional TV displays.”
The Leica Cine 1 will cost around USD $6,900 (251,690 baht) while the 100-inch version will cost USD $7,900 (288,000 baht). The product will be launched in Europe in Q2 2023. Other markets including China and the US will see a later launch.
