Thailand’s Favourite Restaurants by Koktail: Celebrating Culinary Excellence at the 2025 Chefs and Restaurants Awards

Opened in 2020, Playroom first introduced itself as a swanky Fifty Shades of Grey-inspired speakeasy bar in Ekkamai, complete with chains, whips and handcuffs attached to its upscale red and gold interiors. Now in 2022, the bar is morphing into its next phase of seduction, introducing nine new scandalously sexy cocktails in ‘Playroom Chapter 2’.
Just as the relationship between Mr. Grey and Miss Steele gets both steamier and more sophisticated as the Fifty Shades of Grey saga progresses on, Playroom’s new cocktail menu has leveled up in charm, allure, and story.
Try, for example, ‘Miss Steele’, a concoction of Stranger & Sons, lavender, blueberry, raspberry, vanilla and cream for a taste of one irresistible woman. Meanwhile ‘Punish Me, Baby’ offers a sweet punishment in the mouth with Hendrick’s, Calvados, dry vermouth, rose, lemon and egg white.
The ‘Gentlemen’s Club’, dripping in chocolate, coffee, and smokey flavors, is where you might find your Christian Grey, while ‘Orgy Island’ containing Chandon Brut, a little fruitiness and a little saltiness and acidity, is where we can only hope we’ll end up. For a strong finale, an ‘End Game’ of Don Julio Blanco, Mezcal, Campari, sweet vermouth, dry vermouth, Angostura bitters, and wood is only for those who dare finish.
