The Best Coworking Capitals of the World

The Best Coworking Capitals of the World

Bangkok ranked higher than Toronto, Madrid, Los Angeles, and many other cities bustling with digital professionals

Research has concluded what we all could see: the coworking trend is here to stay. Ever since the pandemic, a lot of companies have turned into hybrids or have allowed employees to work from home entirely. Market analysts predict that five million people will be based in coworking spaces by 2024, a 158% increase from today. Not only do coworking spaces offer flexibility, they also allow employees to work in a creative environment.

Despite growing demand around the world, there are some cities that provide the best coworking spaces. Business Name Generator has studied 53 cities around the world by focussing on five factors: the number of coworking spaces available, average monthly cost, WiFi speed, search volume data, and the country’s world happiness ranking.

With over 1,322 co-working spaces, London has been crowned the best city in the world for coworking. Not only did London take the top spot for coworking spaces, it also had the highest average monthly search volume at 4,400, proving that demand is particularly high there. Despite an array of impressive coworking spaces, the average monthly cost per desk is at $308 (11,630 baht)—more expensive than the average cost for all other cities in the top 15 list.

Singapore and Berlin came in second and third, both offering far fewer coworking spaces than London, though with a much smaller population. Bangkok ranks fourth, with only 169 coworking spaces for a population of over 10 million and a search volume of 2,400.

Los Angeles, Paris, and San Franciso come in at the tail end of the top 15 coworking capitals. Paris has 246 coworking spaces, while Los Angeles has 130 coworking spaces for an average cost of $305 (11,500 baht)—the second highest after San Francisco. For a population of 3.3 million and an identical monthly search volume for coworking spaces as Bangkok (2,400), San Francisco has only 81 coworking spaces to offer and for the highest price tag of approximately $359 (13,500 baht) per desk.

San Francisco’s coworking space supply doesn’t quite meet its high demand in both number and affordability
