With Songkran approaching, whether you’re looking to do some pre-festival celebrations or prefer something that comes with a good cause, here are some events to welcome the Thai New Year.
The Junior Business Council of Marriott Bangkok hotels is hosting a flea market charity event ‘Flea for a Cause’ on April 2. Associates of different Marriott properties will have a booth to showcase their products, with all proceeds going to the charity foundation ‘Save the Children’. Food and beverage items will also be available for sale. Join a fun-filled afternoon for a good cause!

Are you ready to Add to Cart? Get artsy at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon for a display of felt art installations by Lucy Sparrow, one of the most exciting and original artists working in the UK today. She mainly focuses on contemporary art craft setting the agenda for textiles within the urban art scene. Working with felt and wool, she creates life-sized replicas in addition to oversized soft versions of existing objects. The artist has unveiled Tampa Fresh Foods, a 3,000 sq ft hypermarket filled with over 50,000 felt groceries, a Cuban sandwich bar and humidor that went viral on tiktok, creating hour-long queues and global coverage. And McDonald’s even tapped her to create McHappiness—a fully functioning felted burger restaurant and homage to the golden arches.

Yuen Deaw is a Thai stand-up community hub that has hosted a total of 15 shows over the past four years and this will be their 16th. Performed by six comedians, “Welcome to Thailand” will be the first major English stand-up show by this group of Thai comedians. Tickets are priced at 555 baht per person. Oh how witty!
