Located on the rooftop of the picturesque Riva Arun hotel, Above Riva is surrounded by iconic landmarks, including Wat Arun, Wat Pho, and the Grand Palace, affording diners breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya River. Arrive late afternoon to enjoy the colour-changing tapestry as the sun sets above this dramatic backdrop. Above Riva offers an a la carte menu with a combination of Thai and international dishes. Begin with signature chicken Caesar salad, given an Asian twist of juicy chicken breast served as a satay, or choose creamy garlic or pan-seared Hokkaido scallops, bathed in Chardonnay, lemon and cream and served with pomelo salad. Fettuccine tom yum goong is home-made pasta in a rich herbal soup with grilled river prawns. Follow with green curry duck confit, at the centre a three-hour confit duck cooked in olive oil, and finished in a fragrant green curry with grilled baby aubergines and accompanied by traditional roti. Classics follow original recipes: grilled filet mignon in butter with sauteed spinach, Madeira jus, and pork chop flambéed with calvados, served with apple sauce and a stunningly executed Bordelais. Desserts complete the experience, with either crème brulee infused Hokkaido cheesecake or salted caramel fudge brownie with mixed berries and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. An eclectic wine list offers house wines alongside more premium options.
