Roma Khaoyai sits on a busy route, with an outdoor terrace invariably full of expectant diners enjoying live music from a local band. Begin with a sharing platter of cheese and cold cuts, including aged 20-month prized Galloni prosciutto and refreshing ripe melon, or opt for gooey truffle camembert accompanied by toasted homemade baguette. Alternatively, choose pan-fried foie gras surrounded by a ribbon of port wine sauce. To follow, classic pasta dishes beckon with carbonara or penne alla vodka in creamy sauce with paprika and drizzled with vodka. Pizzas are fresh from a wood-fired oven with gourmet toppings of lobster and mascarpone or truffle and Italian sausage. The specialty of a platter showcasing multiple types of meat, all smoked to an original recipe handed down through generations of the owner’s family, is highly recommended. The board features duck breast, chicken wings, pork chop, and three types of local sausage, with an array of flavourful dips. Choose a steak from wagyu ribeye to striploin or a 1.5kg tomahawk, accompanied by baked potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and traditional sauces.
