Chef Yakup''s restaurant, Fat Lamb, earned the title of Best Halal Restaurant of the Year in Thailand''s Favourite Restaurants 2023/24 by Koktail. His culinary prowess was first recognised when he emerged victorious in The Iron Chef Thailand competition in 2019. Additionally, Chef Yakup was appointed the First Lambassador of Australian lamb in Thailand, showcasing his expertise and influence in the culinary world. Proud of his journey since graduating in culinary arts from Kendall College in Chicago, Chef Yakup has successfully elevated Halal food in Thailand to the high end of the culinary landscape, showcasing the diversity and excellence of Halal cuisine. Beyond his culinary achievements, Chef Yakup is actively involved in charitable endeavors. As a member of Chef Cares, a charity group, he contributes to providing a better future for young and underprivileged children. Inspired by mentors like Chef Ian Kittichai and Chef Carrie Nahabedian of NAHA in New York, Chef Yakup is already planning a new establishment to further enrich Bangkok''s culinary scene. His passions extend beyond the kitchen, including collecting Japanese knives made by top blacksmiths, travelling, and a love for cats.
