Sigur Rós Announces 2022 Asia Tour Dates

It’s been a (long) while since we’ve been to concerts

Great news for pandemic-fatigued concert-goers: Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós have announced the Asia dates of their upcoming 2022 world tour, and alongside shows in Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, the band will be appearing for the first time ever in Thailand. Finally, a real live concert. Booked by Viji Corp, who also brought The Killers and Nine Inch Nails to Bangkok, the acclaimed group will appear in Bangkok on August 28, 2022—the final destination on the Asian leg of their long-awaited tour.

The Reykjavík-based, Grammy-nominated group has been active since 1994, and is famous for ethereal music which incorporates classical compositions, minimal aesthetic elements, and the use of a bowed guitar. Singer and guitarist Jónsi Birgisson is beloved for his haunting, falsetto vocals.

Sigur Rós, which translates to Victory Rose, is currently in the process of writing and recording their first new studio album since 2013’s Kveikur. Which means the band will air new music at the shows, alongside  material drawn from their acclaimed 25-year long discography. Sigur Rós founding members Jónsi and Georg Holm are joined in the studio and on tour by former member Kjartan Sveinsson, who is rejoining the band almost a decade after stepping away to focus on other projects.

Details regarding the concert venue and tickets will be announced later on Viji Corp’s socials. For more information, visit Sigorros.com.
