Turn Back The Clock With Karl Lagerfeld’s Retro Arcade Inspired Collection

The house of Karl Lagerfeld takes us back to the ‘80s but with a new, modern outlook

If you’re nostalgic for the '80s, you’ll get a kick out of the Spring/Summer 2021 collection from Karl Lagerfeld. Combining motifs and styles of the decade with new eco-friendly fabrics, the signature looks of SS21 marries retro vibes with future-focused sustainability.

The collection contains splashes of textures and colors, with a palette of metallic finishes and pastel shades like pale mauve, sky grey and frozen pink. Designs further embrace influences from the ‘80s blended with ultra-modern details, such as black and white accented with contemporary hints of mazarine blue, ultramarine green and cradle pink.

The silhouettes in the collection tend to grasp a gender-neutral feel. As the collection is also designed for the “work from home” lifestyle nowadays, styles offer both chic and comfortable wear. Find, for instance, sweatshirts, tunics, hoodies, wrap cardigans and wide-leg pants, all crafted from an ultra-soft cashmere blend. Other fabrics utilized in the collection include eco cotton and bio linen.

Continuing to celebrate color, the accessory line showcases saturated pops of tangerine orange, aqua blue and caramel, plus holographic and iridescent detailing. The retro arcade theme also plays out in the wallets and bags.
