A Chocolate Theme Park in Switzerland is Under the Works

All things chocolate in one picturesque location

Attention all chocoholics: Nestle is planning to open a theme park dedicated to Switzerland’s greatest export. Located in the region of Gruyère, the Swiss multinational has revealed that it has been working on a completely new project encompassing all things chocolat.

The project is expected to be completed by 2025. With an investment of 77 million euros (nearly 3 billion baht), the park is tipped to help grow the tourism sector in the region. Oliver Quillet, project manager at Nestle, has noted that it won’t be a park with thrilling roller coaster rides but a site to take visitors through a journey of understanding—from the history of cacao to its delicious production. Maison Cailler, the oldest chocolate factory in Switzerland, has been selected as the location for the project in the picturesque surrounds of Broc.

The plans don’t stop there. After opening in 2025, we could be seeing a hotel and spa added by 2030. All of this is opening against the backdrop of some chocolate competition in Switzerland. Historical chocolatiers Lindt opened the largest chocolate museum back in September 2020, covering more than 1,500 sqm near Lake Zurich, right next to the brand’s headquarters.

With Nestle’s new theme park, they are planning to welcome up to one million chocoholics per year. If you are a chocolate lover like me, make sure to add this upcoming chocolate destination to your bucket list.
