As fans of the award-winning HBO drama The White Lotus may have already heard, the next filming location for the show is likely to be in Thailand.

The black comedy-drama was a breakout success during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and received positive critical acclaim and high ratings. The series also received various accolades which includes ten Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes.

The White Lotus follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain whose stay is affected by their various psychosocial dysfunctions. The first two seasons were shot at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii and Four Seasons’ San Domenico Palace in Sicily.

Although HBO has yet to comment on the location of the third season, sources from Variety have said it is possible that it will take place at one of the Four Seasons resorts in Thailand: a picturesque resort on the island of Koh Samui, a secluded resort overlooking terraced rice fields in Chiang Mai, a posh all-inclusive resort set amidst a jungle in northern Thailand, or a riverside retreat with upscale dining facilities and a view of longtail boats in Bangkok.

Although there are plenty of settings producer Mike White could play with, the most obvious choice would be Koh Samui given the previous seasons were all beach and island backdrops. However, the producer said at the end of season two: “I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.” Meaning, there is no guarantee of an exact location the show would go with yet and who knows, White could change things up this time.

Production for the third season is not in the works just yet, as sources say White has been spending time in Thailand scoping out sites. In terms of casting, there could be a few fresh faces as in season two.

The big question is, which of the Four Seasons Resorts in Thailand do you think will feature in the third season?
