'Tiger King 2' Promises To Be Just As Wild If Not More

The pop culture sensation that took the internet by storm earlier during the pandemic will be back on Netflix for a second season on November 17

Recall back at the start of the pandemic when our timelines were flooded by Tiger King content for weeks. Now it seems that we're back once again uttering the name Joe Exotic and discussing whether or not Carole Baskins actually fed her ex-husband to those big cats.

During Netflix's first-ever global fan event, Tudum (named after the sound that Netflix makes when you turn it on), the streaming giant revealed a short but nevertheless juicy new trailer for Tiger King to event participants. The second season aims to recreate the sudden fame of the first one, which racked up 5.3 billion minutes of streaming in just one month of release. Directed by Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, the sequel promises “just as much madness and mayhem as Season 1," and we're here for it.

To recap, the first season ended with Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin acquiring Joe’s infamous zoo—at least that's how we may have been led to believe things concluded. However, producers of the emmy-nominated documentary have spoken about the second season, saying a “crazy amount of footage” is waiting to be shown and that the story is “still unfolding”.

Still shy of the November 17 release date of season 2, the drama is already on, as we know that “cool cats and kittens” enthusiast Carole Baskin, along with her husband Howard, have filed a lawsuit against Netflix and Royal Goode Productions. They claim that the streaming platform is breaching their contract by using footage of Carole and her husband in Tiger King 2, despite having signed appearance release forms for just the first series. The lawsuit also argues that the depiction of Carole, along with Big Cat Rescue’s operations in the first season, was misleading, resulting in unfair accusations of her being both an animal abuser and responsible for her first husband's disappearance. Meanwhile, the first season was much more sympathetic to Joe. As a result, it was Carole and her husband's wishes that all their footage be scrapped completely in the second season.

Fans of the show know that in the world of Tiger King, you never know what will happen next.
