Bangkok-based designer Teerapoj Teeropas founded Kitt.Ta.Khon in 2019, specialising in rattan furniture crafted by Thai artisans. He mixes traditional and new-found weaving and wrapping techniques to create contemporary textures using a design language that blends Thai, African, Chinese, Moroccan cultures while combining ethnic colour palettes with refined and paired back modern sensibilities. He is also co-founder of Issaraphap Design that creates exhibitions, product designs and books, and is on the committee of Design and Object Association (DandO). Previously he was part of the Social and Cultural Innovation lab of KMUTT which focussed on research and study of culture and development of the Karen tribe in Ratchaburi. He was awarded the IF design award from Germany for best furniture designs. Future plans include an art exhibition in 2023 and collaborations with artists for a more conceptual line of products. Teerapoj’s goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem for artisans, the supply chain and the consumer.
