Hailing from the hilly terrain of Ban Khun Saruay village in Chiang Rai Province, Suthathip, or Music, has used her social media platforms to create awareness of the Akha way of life, bringing hill tribe ethnicity to the modern generation. Using her Akha name, Abusulu, she takes her followers into the heart of the Akha community where man and nature are mutually beneficial. She is equally at ease in traditional Akha garb or in trendy urban fashions, showing pride in her ethnic heritage. She has also launched her own brand of coffee beans, Abusulu Coffee, made from her family’s organic produce. Her niche for creating awareness was already apparent when her traffic safety campaign won the Popular Vote in the Campus Challenge 2019 while studying communications at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. But instead of finding a job in the city, she returned to her roots, finding her happiness in its simplicity, and sharing it with others. Her initiatives have made her a community leader, working with local elders to take community development into their own hands.
