Ukrit Sornprohm, a leading advocate for the rule of law and criminal justice specializing in Restorative Justice (RJ) and alternative measures, spearheads research and programme implementation at the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) driving victim-centeredness, policy shifts in drug law, and societal harmony. Ukrit's vision focuses on facilitating accountability in the justice system and transformative victim-and-offender dialogues while involving the active role of communities. He advances practical criminal justice application in various contexts, evidenced by innovative legislation frameworks for drug-related crime and collaborative RJ programmes with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and national agencies e.g. the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney General. Steadfast in his pursuit despite structural and socio-cultural challenges, Ukrit views them as stepping stones towards a better justice system. His dedication has yielded positive outcomes contributing to a more just, peaceful, and harmonious society. Beyond TIJ, he co-founded the Construction Lawyers Society providing legal advice and capacity building on construction laws and contracts for Thai professionals. He also lectures on criminal justice, construction laws, and legal reasoning at leading universities including Thammasat University and Chulalongkorn University.
