Wannapong “Nhuun” Yodmuang is a distinguished Thai transgender activist and feminist who has dedicated their efforts to shaping regional and international gender justice related law, public policies, and multilateral decision-making spaces. Nhuun's advocacy primarily focuses on advancing transgender human rights. Nhuun holds a master's degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, where they were a Chevening scholar. Following academic pursuits, Nhuun joined APTN and has since been actively involved in breaking down barriers faced by the transgender community across Asia and the Pacific, particularly in the realm of human rights and feminism through legal research projects, trans leadership building programmes, and advocacy in several United Nations’ multilateral spaces, resulting in a notable impact on the global and regional stages. In 2023, these platforms included the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) hosted by UN ESCAP where they called out for economic and social justice for marginalized communities. They also co-organised the ‘United Nations Trans Advocacy Week,’ convening trans and gender-diverse people from across the globe in preparation for gender justice-related discussions and meetings at the UN Human Rights Council.
