Dr Warakorn is an associate professor of Electrochemistry at the Division of Health and Applied Sciences in the Faculty of Science at the Prince of Songkla University. Known for making science fun, he was awarded Outstanding Science Teacher (university level) 2015 by the Science Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of HM the King. He created award-winning innovations such as zinc field test kits and a device and application called Chilica-Pod to measure the heat level of chillies. The device, shaped like a chili, consists of a sensor to measure the amount of capsaicin inside a chilli, and can be paired with an application on a smartphone to provide a simple and quick chilli meter. Dr. Warakorn most recently received the Mahidol Science Innovative Educator Award 2021 for contributing to the benefit of society in education innovation as well as his efforts in inspiring students to learn science.
