Being appointed as country director of Google Thailand in September 2019, Jackie Wang originally joined Google Thailand’s sales team, transferring from McCann Worldgroup in 2014. Bringing experience working for Google in the US as a brand manager, her leadership at Google Thailand has seen audiences soar, especially during the pandemic. YouTube watch time in Thailand rose 20% in the first six months of 2020, compared with the same period a year earlier. Wang’s focus when the virus first spread was to make sure people had the information and tools they needed to help cope with the situation. Google Thailand plays a part in supporting the community both in short-term and long- term response to the virus by promoting authoritative and reliable information; supporting education and learning; and contributing to business continuity and economic recovery. Wang believes it is crucial that people have access to health information they can trust online to make the right decisions to protect themselves and those around them from the pandemic.
