Chomwan is the co-founder and creative director of her husband’s epynomous clothing label Philip Huang, which merges traditional knowledge with the expectations and aesthetics of contemporary life by collaborating with artisans and artists. As a multi-disciplinary collaborative brand, designs are always based upon research, history, current culture and the environment, for which her PhD at King’s College London stands her in good stead.The brand is dedicated to experimentation with indigo, natural techniques and design, which are inspired by art, film, current affairs and the stories behind the brand’s collaborators. In the past year, Chomwan is proud to have secured her first investment in the company and to have made her first short film—another passion. A previous job commitment meant she was hopping between NY and Bangkok for much of last year, and she says being away from her family—as well as being perpetually jetlagged—was a huge challenge.
