Over 80,000 follow him on the platform, which he uses to showcase his often-gritty depictions of Bangkok’s street life. Wanting to present authentic perspectives, he worked as a motorcycle delivery driver and used the experience to chart city sights, lights, shadows and darkness, plus the people who provide the heartbeat of the capital. A firm believer in individual expression and that art is what gives us our sense of humanity, Phichai says he is planning to step up his work in portraiture. In all his photography he strives to hold a mirror up to society, one that reflects our differences but celebrates them and sees them as cause to be happy.
