It’s hard to believe that at only age 21—barely legal—and after only two months of bartending, Tamaryn Cooper had won Campari’s annual bartending competition in Thailand, becoming the youngest ever to do so. She ended up placing second in the Asia finals in Milan, establishing herself as an official force to be reckoned with in Asia’s bar scene. A regular behind the counter of two of Thailand’s top bars, Asia Today and Teens of Thailand, Tamaryn is a part of a new generation in the industry trying to reform Thailand’s overly strict alcohol regulations. Her driving force for success is providing for her family and to be a good role model for her younger sister and youths like herself out there. Despite feeling the pressures to meet certain expectations after all that she’s accomplished so far, Tamaryn believes in the potential of young people such as herself and feels strongly that their voices and opinions matter in shaping our society.
