Muanfun’s job is to oversee the operation of auction and private sales, to foster relationships with both buyers and sellers, and lead provenance research on artists and art pieces. Previously, she ran IMAGINIA, a creative playground on art, music, literature and strategic play for children aged 1-12. She feels it’s never too early to pique the interest of kids about the beauty of arts. Her challenge is to be able to gather auction-worthy pieces from consignors, which requires trust and strategy. Next on the agenda is to facilitate auctions of art pieces with a wider range of art styles across a wider range of Thai artists through intensive art research in the form of video catalogue–a new step for the art auction industry inThailand. She hopes to energise the Thai art market and create a Thai artist database for an international audience. Her role model is Susan Sollins, founder of Art21, the only US television series and website to focus exclusively on contemporary visual art and artists. It certainly helps that her father is Sermkhun Kunawong, noted photographer, businessman and art collector.
