Review

This endearingly simple and modestly decorated establishment serves up some of the best pasta in town. The name suggests a home-like dining experience, the exterior resembling a quaint little bistro doesn’t shout for attention. Yet notice should be paid to the culinary talent to be found in this hidden gem. A Bowl of Pasta reveals dedication and passion for high quality, organic, and authentic ingredients, with pasta and all sauces made in-house from scratch. The menu is filled with familiar dishes given an extra Thai-style flavour punch. For example, crab capellini features a generous amount of lump crab meat drenched in lemony white wine jus with kicks of chilli for added exhilaration, an exceptional pasta dish with tang, bite, and complexity. To sample the fusion mastery, try pasta with khao soi sauce, lush with flavour and spices but merely the base for the dish protagonist, a perfectly crispy duck leg. The restaurant also offers a range of sophisticated meat dishes, far from being overshadowed by pasta. Beef lovers must order wagyu hanger steak, perfectly juicy and tender slices bathed in red wine sauce with a touch of Asian umami, served with a side of sweet potato fries smothered in parmesan shavings. Desserts are homemade, with a stunning poached pear in white wine, chocolate mousse, and chocolate biscotti.
