Bull & Bear at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is one of the city’s best iterations of a New York steakhouse, specialising in premium meats and seafood dishes served in a plush setting of oxblood and ebony leather and dark wood finishes. Begin with signature Bull & Bear salad comprising smoked duck breast, pickled beetroot, pistachio and apricot robed in a piquant mustard dressing and topped with Swiss Belper Knolle. Recommended is hand-cut beef tartare of Australian wagyu tenderloin blended with harissa oil, egg yolk gel, perilla leaves and Parmesan chips. Steaks include individual prime cuts from Australia and Japan range from 125g Saga prefecture wagyu striploin to a hefty 1kg Australian wagyu porterhouse. They arrive with a choice of peppercorn, Béarnaise, wild mushroom, chimichurri, Bull & Bear BBQ, and Barolo jus sauces. Side dish favourites include a medley of charcoal roasted vegetables, creamed or sautéed spinach and a supreme truffle mac & cheese comprising Brie, gruyère, Boston lobster bisque, bechamel and black truffle. Smoked duck ravioli in porcini cream, roasted Benja chicken with ginger rhubarb ketchup and premium seafood offerings such as lobster Thermidor with French Fespelette, grilled tiger prawn with chimichurri sauce or spicy spanner crab tagliolini are great alternatives to beef. An outstanding global wine list includes gems from the US, many available by the glass.
