Maison Mizuki is accessed through the lobby of the Sofitel Sukhumvit. The concept surrounds the narrative of Mizuki, a young Japanese girl who travels globally with her uncle, sharing his passion for whisky. With a nod to her second home in Paris, she recounts her experiences through the creation of Maison Mizuki. This smart and cosy cocktail bar lounge features a menu of Japanese sushi, sashimi, donburi, and grilled dishes. There is a screened outdoor terrace for those who prefer a cigar with their libations. The à la carte menu has multiple offerings of either sashimi or sushi, showcasing the stellar quality of ingredients, including sweet uni, moist prawns, and slivers of yellowtail and tuna, akami, chu-toro, or luxe otoro. The quality of the wasabi is equally premium. Other appetisers of note include salmon lava roll, generously topped with ikura. Alternatively, tamago sweet egg sushi and salmon sesame ponzu drizzled with truffle oil both show kitchen prowess. Miso soup with silken tofu and seaweed is a fragrant and aromatic broth providing a break from the richness. Hamachi saikyo misoyaki makes a pleasant change from the more often-consumed teriyaki. Dessert of ice cream mochi in various flavours, including matcha, mango, and chocolate, is an enjoyable finale. The wine list is concise; sake or whisky is recommended.
With over 100 rare whiskies, the exceptional Ibiki 21 goes for 13,500 THB per glass.
