Early 2024, Prego opened at Ozo hotel near Kata Beach in one of Phuket’s premier resort districts, fast becoming as popular as its older siblings in Bangkok, Pattaya and Koh Samui. Chef Marco Boscaini opened the first Prego in Samui in 2003 to immediate praise for his one-hundred-year-old family recipes handed down generation to generation. Chef Marco Giannoni directs the kitchens at Prego Kata bringing his own favourite tastes of Italy to diners alongside a similar range of original dishes with handmade pasta, woodfired pizzas, signature antipasti and perhaps the most authentic tiramisu in Thailand. Menu highlights include, classic ossobuco alla Milanese with succulent veal, accompanied by on-point risotto and fileto di manzo, medallions of finest fillet of beef with mixed peppercorn sauce, finessed with a generous measure of cognac. Sample the delicious variety of tastes at Prego Kata by joining its Cicchetti night. Cicchetti, a Venezia custom, offers small plates to suit all tastes where guests dine on an amazing selection from the menu offered at attractive prices. Selections include Italian antipasti and sausages, fresh spinach ravioli in a punchy arrabbiata sauce, baked gnocchi in Bolognese sauce, assorted pizzas and an array of Italian cheeses, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes. An inviting selection of wines of the world with an interesting section of red wines from Italy are on offer.
Whilst the Prego classics are all available, chef’s secret recipe tiramisu is memorable.
