Review

InterContinental Bangkok’s Chinese restaurant serves authentic Cantonese dim sum and classic regional dishes to the highest standards. With old-world elegance and a smartly suited service team, the ambience is relaxed and comfortable. A dim sum menu is available for both lunch and dinner, offering familiar favourites and elevated classics. Steamed crab roe xiao long bao exudes a wonderfully silky, translucent exterior containing the warm, aromatic broth. Savoury baked sesame puffs are generously stuffed with onion, piquant Yunnan ham, and mushrooms. Barbecued meats are well executed, and it is worth choosing the trio platter with a tasty mix of crispy pork belly, honey-glazed pork ribs, and plump slices of delicately fat-lined roast duck. Iberico pork char siu of glossy slices of on-point caramelised meat, neatly balanced with fat and brimming with rich smoky-sweet glaze is a highlight. Summer Palace fried rice is predominantly filled with an array of seafood, showcasing kitchen talent, with perfectly cooked rice and luxury ingredients within. Traditional Cantonese digestion-aiding desserts are light, so there’s little excuse to skip them. Summer Palace’s renditions of pomelo sago with guava and sesame dumplings in warm ginger juice are fulfilling. Enjoy a warm pot of Chinese tea throughout the meal, selected from the lengthy tea menu. A global wine list is also available.
