This Greek restaurant concept, transplanted from Sydney, is run by John Gavros, the son of the Greek immigrant who founded the original. The theme is two-pronged: classic Greek recipes passed down through the Gavros family and a boisterous interaction in the main room between staff and customers. From Sunday through Saturday, diners smash plates, dance on the tables, and sing along en-masse to a stream of hugely popular songs proven through the decades with John as the ringleader. The place attracts a youngish crowd with a mix of Thais and non-Thais who all embrace the celebratory vibe of the place. It is a popular spot for birthday parties and unbridled bridal showers.
If you prefer a more subdued atmosphere, sit in one of the quieter side rooms and enjoy classic dishes such as eggplant, hummus, and taramasalata dips, traditional Greek salad with chunks of quality feta and olives, a beef moussaka that will fill you up or chicken souvlaki. The signature flaming ouzo prawns brought open fire drama to the table with a most pleasant anise zing.
The menu also features a good selection of cocktails and mocktails, an interesting wine list, and a spirit selection to satisfy both the common man or the liquor snob.
