Street Artist

Industry : The Arts

Patcharapon Tangruen, better known by his artistic alter-ego Alex Face, is a prolific graffiti artist whose work you may have caught around Bangkok’s city scape and prominent international street art festivals. His work gained recognition in 2009, after his daughter was born and he began expressing concerns about the world she would grow up in. This evolved into his iconic three-eyed child character in a rabbit suit. Named after his daughter, Mardi, it became the perfect medium to express the artist’s societal commentary which he is known for today. His biggest challenge in the past year has been putting up four exhibitions in four different countries for which he had to produce hyper-realistic paintings in a tiny amount of time, as well as his 20-year retrospective in Bangkok. Aware that Thais are not typically gallery and museum goers, he is happy to be able to bring art to the people, and would like to travel around Southeast Asia creating murals and landscapes to stimulate discussions in communities. Claude Monet and David Hockney are among his favourite artists. Apart from human rights, his passion also includes cleaning and riding his bicycle.
