Industry : The Arts

Kantapon, or Gongkan, is the founder of Teleport Art. This former advertising agency art director left a stable job to discover himself as an artist in New York. Finding it a traumatic experience, he came up with his famous Teleport series featuring the now iconic black circle through which he metaphorically transports himself through time and space to explore issues of the mind. In 2019 he exhibited in Bangkok, New York City, Taipei, Beijing and Shanghai, moving towards his dream of communicating with the entire world, and is proud that he has achieved his goal. He draws upon his sadness, isolation and even his insomnia to create his pieces, which are often quirky and which he labels as ‘gongkanthings’. He finds social media a double-edged sword and hopes his work can help heal those who are suffering from poverty, inequality and digital abuse. He is known for his saturnine looks and love of coffee.
