Gade’s grandparents were likay artists, and dance was infused in her DNA. A dance and music graduate—she started taking
Thai classical dance lessons from the age of 13—she met the innovative Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun as a student, and he helped her bridge the gap between contemporary and Thai classical dance, understanding that both serve to communicate
a message through physical movements. This allowed her to work with top choreographers in Japan, and join the International Choreographers Residency Program at the American Dance Festival 2017 in New York on an Asian Cultural Council scholarship. This 7-month study in the US further helped her understand that dance movement can apply to every part of the body. Taking
this concept further, she created the Vagina Dance workshop which drew a lot of controversy from traditionalists. Her recent project, a short film titled “Dance Offering” won the Southeast Asia Choreographers Network (SEACN) #3 Challenge Award.
