Pradit “Tua” Prasartthong

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, ANATTA THEATRE TROUPE

Industry :

In 2012, Pradit founded Anatta Theatre Troupe as a platform for experimental works in various formats that offer a new perspective on everyday life, particularly the inequalities present in Thai society, and encourage discussions. The troupe is dedicated to telling the stories of overlooked or forgotten individuals, or the “little” people, in history, literature, and legends, hoping to stimulate positive change. Here, Pradit serves not only as a performer but also as a scriptwriter and director. Prior to this, Pradit dedicated over two decades to the Makhampom Theatre Group. He co-founded the Bangkok Theatre Festival in 2002, which introduced Thai folk theatre arts in a modern context, applying traditional Thai theatre forms to address contemporary issues. He also established the "Small Theatre Society," a network encompassing all facets of the theatre community that aims to facilitate sustainable growth within Thai contemporary theatre. Like Don Quixote, Pradit perceives his legacy as that of "a man who is honest with his dreams and never gives up hope." He was recognized as a Silpathorn Artist in 2004 and received the title of National Artist (Contemporary Drama) in 2023.
