Sirikan "June" Charoensiri is the founder of Thai Lawyers for Human Rights and a formidable advocate for human rights in Thailand. Her unwavering commitment to justice and human rights has earned her international recognition, including the prestigious International Women of Courage Award in 2018. June''s legal expertise and advocacy skills have been prominently displayed in her representation of fourteen student activists from the New Democracy Movement (NDM). This challenging role has brought her into direct conflict with Thai authorities, demonstrating her courage in the face of adversity. Notably, June became the first Thai lawyer to face sedition charges under the military junta, illustrating the extent of her confrontation with oppressive forces. Despite facing harassment, threats, and legal challenges, June''s dedication to defending democracy in Thailand remains steadfast. Her efforts, alongside those of TLHR, were acknowledged with the Justice for Democracy Defenders Award from the Clooney Foundation for Justice. June''s tenacious advocacy and her commitment to human rights, even under duress, have established her as a pivotal figure in Thailand''s ongoing struggle for justice and democracy.
